Modern Makeover
This Rhode Island home was in need of a lot of TLC. The homeowners had a vision to modernize the space and create a home that was more inline with their design style. Our team was up to the challenge and stepped in to make it reality for them. Come with us as we take you through this homes modern transformation.
Built in 1965, this traditional ranch style home sits in a lovely Rhode Island suburb. Throughout the years only minor updates were done but nothing that completely transformed the look and function of the home. Our clients were in desperate need of a better functioning space as well as design esthetic more inline with their own. They loved their little gem and the location so moving was not an option. They knew the homes potential but were not sure where to begin. That’s were we stepped in. We were able to hone in on the clients vision and needs to create a home they now love.
I love showing before & progress photos of our projects because it truly shows how much thought and work went into the process to completely transform a space. The goal for this kitchen was to create a more functional layout for cooking and prep as well as a great spot for entertaining. There was a 3 season porch closed off to the kitchen that was barely used. Thankfully it had a strong foundation so we were able to open it to the rest of the space and create a cozy little sitting area where the homeowners love to start their morning with a cup of coffee or unwind at the end of the day with a glass of wine. It’s the prefect spot when entering as well.
All the windows were replaced though out the home with black modern frames and horizontal mullions to give the home a modern look. I love that we stayed true minimal and went with no casing and trim. We replaced the flooring in the kitchen and the front entry with large porcelain tile that have look of concrete. The back splash is handmade tile with 3 tones of white to create a whimsical pattern. It's a prefect way to stay subtle but also make a bit of a statement.
All the bathrooms were completely renovated and updated as well. We used large formate tile and streamline custom cabinetry as well as beautiful brass fixtures. The master now has a comfortable walk in curb-less shower.
Although the homeowners are modernist at heart, they still wished to stay with a warm palette. To accomplish this, we incorporated lots of wood tones throughout the home as well as neutral colors brass accents, textures as well as pops of color.
Watching this homes transformation is incredible. Having the opportunity to assist this family in creating their new space was a true pleasure. I hope it remains a place they love and enjoy for many years to come.
