Find your balance in life.
I feel like life, in many ways, is a balancing act – walking a fine line or in this case, a steel beam. We find ourselves constantly juggling between work, home, relationships, finances and health. All in an attempt to accomplish our goals and to succeed, we often fail to understand the importance of having balance in our lives. This conversation has been surfacing a lot lately with friends and colleagues. I felt compelled to do some soul searching and share my thoughts since it's been a struggle for me as well. As a business owner, I feel I'm on 24/7 wanting to please everyone and make sure I'm providing the best service for my clients. By the end of my day, I am so spent, I barely have energy for anything or anyone. I'm sure most of you can relate.
Maintaining a well-balanced life isn’t just crucial for your health, happiness, and well-being but also essential for boosting productivity, managing stress, and unleashing your true potential.

So the question still remains, how can you accomplish balance? Let me share 5 easy ways I'm working on achieving this:
Relax and recharge: Learn how to take some time off to unwind. It could be a couple of hours a day or during the weekends. Switch off your laptops and smartphones and engage. Get out for a walk or jog, read a book, meditate, or spend time with a loved one. I know, it's tempting not to look at your phone to see who tagged you five minutes ago or check how many people liked your latest Instagram post. But it’s important to note that all of these things can wait.
Don’t give up your sleep for work. Overworking or overthinking about work-related issues at home doesn’t just elevate stress, it also kills productivity and can damage your relationships. Once you’re done for the day, try to take your mind off work and focus on things that bring you relaxation.
Dismiss negativity: Adopting a positive mindset and staying away from negative influences is essential for inner peace and happiness. Stay away from toxic people as much as possible. Practice gratitude, avoid self-criticism and do at least one thing every day that brings you joy.
Adopt a healthy lifestyle: I believe this is in line with my previous suggestion about negativity. They go hand in hand. Your health is bound to affect every other aspect of your life. It’s important to invest in your physical and mental wellbeing. Remember to eat! Eat well and healthy, get enough sleep, stay hydrated, and try to work out regularly.
Prioritize: Balance isn't about squeezing in as many things as possible in your everyday life. On the contrary, it's about deciding what's important and what isn't, evaluating how much time and energy you should be investing in things that matter to you. Ask yourself, is it necessary to check and answer emails at dinner time with your family? Or answering business calls late at night? Should I spend that much on a pair of shoes when I really need to save money for a downpayment? (Buy the shoes! Haha! JK) Keep yourself focused by assessing your priorities regularly, manage your time effectively to protect yourself from burning out.
Treat yourself: I think it's very important to learn to #Treatyoself. It can do wonders for your mood, mental health, and self-esteem. Once in a while, set aside some time just for you. Plan a mani-pedi or spa day (Guys, this is for you too!) go shopping, or enjoy dinner with friends at your favorite restaurant. And if you want to unwind without making a dent in your bank account, listen to some music, enjoy a long bath, or just sleep in.
I don't know about you but I'm definitely going to start incorporating these changes into my daily routine and see the difference it brings! :)
